Everything is in the Remix

Isaac Newton put it best when he said “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulder of giants” In short: Creation requires influence. The Everything-is-a-Remix project by editor Kirby Ferguson is a smart, well-edited piece of work that basically points out how much of the entertainment we consume everyday is related to other entertainment. Specifically, it breaks down parts of Star Wars and Kill Bill into component elements and compares them to their original inspirations re-purposed by George Lucas and Quentin Tarantino. What could be a boring exercise is actually a revealing, fun-to-watch construction manual for modern pop culture. (Don’t stop at the first end credits, there is still Kill Bill to come)
If you want to explore the idea more, there is a great article by Russ Fischer over at Slashfilm.
