The Trashcam Project

In Hamburg, Germany a group of garbage men turned creative (and why not), converted dumpsters into giant pinhole cameras and dubbed it the Trashcam Project. The technical aspects go back to the basic working principle of very early cameras: By drilling a small hole on one side of the dumpster, an image is projected onto a giant sheet of photo paper inside. Each shot takes about an hour to capture and is then developed in a special lab. The results are simply striking:
