I love reading books. Apart from the obvious benefits reading a book for me creates a kind of comfortable calmness. Even more so when I’m in the presence of other people reading a book as well. That’s probably the reason why I like this photo blog a lot: The Underground New York Public Library is a tumblr blog by street photographer Ourit Ben-Haim meant as a visual library featuring ‘the Reading-Riders of the NYC subways’. Nice detail: Most photos are accompanied by the title and author of the book being read (I put them underneath each photograph).
Here is a glimpse …

'The Art Of Loving' by Erich Fromm

'Lords and Ladies' by Terry Pratchett

'Kafirr Boy - The True Story of a Black Youth Coming of Age in Apartheid South Africa' by Mark Mathabane

'The Talmud'

'Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community and War' by Nathaniel Philbrick

'Three Cups of Tee: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time' by Greg Mortenson/David Oliver Relin

Right: 'The Colossus of New York' by Colson Whitehead, left: 'Hornet's Nest' by Patricia Cornwell
