Ikea Introduces The Uppleva TV

In a nutshell: IKEA beat Apple to it! While we’re all waiting for the Apple TV set because Steve Jobs claimed he “nailed it” (read the book) IKEA just introduced the Uppleva, an all-in-one smart TV that features an full HD LED screen, a built-in Blu-ray player, speakers, wireless subwoofer and fully customizable housing depending on where you plan to put it. And – it’s from IKEA after all – the Uppleva is already part of the furniture. Cute idea, cute commercial:

IKEA introduces UPPLEVA, a completely new range that integrates smart TV and sound system with furniture. UPPLEVA brings beauty and functionality to the living room, solving the problem of cable clutter and miss-match between TV and furniture.

You will find UPPLEVA in Stockholm, Milan, Paris, Gdansk and Berlin in June 2012. During autumn 2012 UPPLEVA is available in all of the stores in Sweden, Italy, France, Poland, Denmark, Spain, Norway and Portugal , and during spring 2013 in even more countries.

The Heist At Pause

Swedish electronics retailer Pause is inviting people to break into its store in Stockholm tonight and steal an LED TV worth $5,700. Yes, you heard me right: As part of a new campaign, if someone can get past the store’s security system tonight with the help of a friend, they pull off the daring heist and can keep the TV as a prize. Well, normally on the Isle we don’t talk about our own work so much. However, from time to time a small exception from that rule seems to be in order and today we do that for the first time. So here you go: A set of tv-commercials we developed to kick-off an integrated campaign for Reno, the largest european shoe retailer. The claim ‘Die behalt ich gleich an’ (‘I’ll keep these on’) was already in use and well known when we started to work for the client at the end of last year but it was never utilised properly and consequently it had no relevant emotional meaning whatsoever. And there you have the pretty simple and straight forward idea: Take what’s well known and give it meaning. You just have to do it right.
